Our summer break is two weeks in already! Hard for me to believe. I thought I would get so much done being home all day… then the reality set in with the kids fighting and a toddler demanding most of my time and energy. *Sigh* I’m still able to keep up with my projects, but I have so many more big things I want to get done and there just aren’t enough hours in a day!
Are you like me? Do you find there is so much more you want to get done and life just gets in the way? While I’m definitely not wanting this time to rush by (I mean, this is our last baby and I’m trying so hard to enjoy this time while the boys are young), some of these days sure are long.
I have a lot of larger projects in the works as well as some secret ones that won’t be released for a while, and I’m getting ready to head to the CGOA Conference next month in NH! I’m so excited and hope I get to meet some of you there. I am trying to make some useful things to take with me while I’m there.
I ordered some great business cards from Vista Print and wanted something to carry them in, so I whipped up this cute little coin purse to hold the cards and some other accessories I’ll need while I’m there. Of course I plan on bringing lots of yarn and at this conference it’s perfectly okay to crochet while you are in a session. I’m also taking a spinning class and learning how to use a drop spindle and I cannot wait! It’s going to be so much fun!
This little coin purse could easily be lined if you like, but I’m going to leave it like it is and carry business cards, these travel scissors (I’ll be sure to put these in my checked bag on the flight, though!) and my trusty Lion Brand Yarn tape measure I received at CGOA a different year. You could carry just about anything small in this little pouch – the sky’s the limit. 🙂

FINISHING
Fold in half, lining up rows of CC stripes.
Sew bottom and side (I used a crochet hook and slip stitched it closed with the MC, you could also use a mattress st or any other seaming method you prefer).
Closure
Find center of bag and mark 2 sts on each side (the strap is 4 sts wide and these will be the 4 sts you will use. Do your best to pick the 4 middle sts.)
With RS of bag facing, join MC in far right marked st.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc 4; turn.
Rows 2-6: Ch 1, sc evenly across; turn.
Row 7 (buttonhole row): Ch 1, sc in first st, ch 2, skip next 2 sts, sc in last st; turn.
Row 8: Ch 1, sc in first st, 2 sc in ch-2 space, sc in last st.
Fasten off.
Sew button on front, opposite closing strap.
Weave in ends.
That’s it! You’re done!
