I love the open look of this stitch. V-stitches are some of my favorite and I love the subtle difference of the offset V-stitch. I have created several popular patterns in a regular V-stitch such as the Unforgettable One-Skein Scarf and the Unforgettable Hat to name a couple, but I think next time I will mix it up with an offset version! Here’s how to crochet the Offset V-stitch.
How to crochet the Offset V-Stitch
Abbreviations:
ch: chain
dc: double crochet
t-ch: turning chain
V-Stitch (V-st): [dc, ch 1, dc] in same space
Instructions for crocheting the Offset V-Stitch:
Multiple of 3 + 4
Row 1 (RS): Dc into 4th ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, work a V-st in next ch; repeat from * to last 3 ch, skip 2 ch, dc in last ch; turn.
Row 2: Ch 4, dc into first st, *V-st in 2nd dc of next V-st; repeat from * to last V-st, dc in 3rd ch of t-ch; turn.
Repeat row 2 for pattern.
That’s it! It’s just a simple and elegant stitch and I love the way it turns out. Once you establish the foundation row it’s simply a one row repeat. This stitch would be so nice for a swimsuit cover-up or an open scarf or summer top. The possibilities are endless.
