Have some cake yarn in your stash and don’t know what to do with it? Check out this collection of cake yarn knitting patterns for inspiration!
You might not want to read this post if you are really hungry, because it’s all about cake! Ok, so it’s not the kind of cake that you eat. It’s the yarn kind of cake! That’s right, we’ve got an amazing round-up for you today of cake yarn knitting patterns. You’re going to love it!
Have you seen the cake yarns at the craft store before? They don’t look like the traditional yarn sausages. Instead they are wound into big skeins. If you have your own yarn winder then you are already familiar with the shape of cake yarn. There’s multiple colors of yarn in each cake and they are all expertly matched for crafting bliss. You can’t help but “ooh” and “aah” over all the fun color combinations!
Having multiple colors in a single skein of yarn isn’t exactly a new concept, but it does make my knitting life a lot easier. I don’t have to worry about changing colors or weaving in extra ends. And I can rest easy knowing that the colors I’m using will all look great together in the end. In addition to the benefit of pre-matched colors, you also get the benefit of generous yardage. Typically cake yarns are much larger than average skeins of yarn – sometimes even double!
Those extra yards ensure that you get lovely long stretches of each color. This is another reason that cake yarns are super easy to work with. Larger sections of color simply look better in most cases than the chaotic color changes of patterns worked with variegated yarns. But don’t take my word for it. Scroll down and see all these lovely cake yarn knitting patterns for yourself! Oh, and did I mention that they are all free?!
