You can never have too many pillows, but you might actually have too much yarn if you have a hoarding problem like me. So why not solve both problems at once and use up some of that yarn to make a few of these free crochet pillow patterns?

Do you know how to crochet a pillow? There’s obviously a bunch of different ways to do it, but the style that I see most often starts out as two crochet squares that are sewn together around a pillow form. Sounds pretty easy, right? As for the rest of you crochet wizards, don’t go thinking that all of these crochet pillow patterns will be a piece of cake. If you like a challenge, you’ll also find what you’re looking for here. Our more intricate patterns involve complex crochet stitches and unique pillow shapes that will really test your crochet skills.

Of course, the best part will be that moment when you are finally able to display all your hard work on your couch or your bed. Plus, these crochet pillow patterns are as practical as they are cute. 25 Free Crochet Pillow Patterns

Celtic Weave Throw Pillow

Rich textures and tassels set this bohemian beauty apart from the rest. The celtic weave stitch is an intricate and eye-catching stitch that really makes a statement. But the hard part is over when that’s done, because making tassels is a piece of cake. You can see through the stitches a little bit, so make sure to select a neutral colored pillow form to go inside.

Beige yarn and knit look stitches blend into the background, so you can be sure that this pillow won’t clash with your existing home decor. The pattern calls for single crochet and split single crochet stitches to mimic the sleek fabric of knitting. It’s an easy and repetitive project that’s perfect for crocheting in front of the tv.

Casablanca Throw Pillow

This Moroccan inspired make features a two color geometric design. The pattern uses the mosaic crochet technique to achieve this unique look. If you’re unfamiliar with mosaic it may look tricky, but it’s actually created entirely with single and double crochet stitches. Plus, there’s no changing colors in the middle of a row. It’s like magic!

If you can’t get enough color, then you’ve got to check out this delightfully bright design. Floral granny squares are sewn together to create this pretty pillow cover. This design looks like it just rolled out of an Anthropologie magazine. I’m obsessed with the unique textures that this pattern creates using basic cable work and bobble stitches. Toadstool Pillows

Think outside the box with crochet pillow patterns that aren’t shaped like squares or rectangles. These adorable toadstool pillows would blend in perfectly with a cottagecore design scheme. Granny Square Heart Pillow

A simple granny square is transformed into an adorable heart design with a few easy color changes. If you have never crocheted a granny square before, you might be surprised to hear how easy it is to make using just double crochet stitches. The best part about this design is that it’s easy to customize for different sizes of square pillows.

Classic Sherpa Pillow

Faux fur yarn disguises the appearance of crochet stitches and makes these trendy throw pillows look like store bought. This unique yarn can be a little tricky to work with, but once you get the hang of it this project will fly by thanks to the thickness of the yarn. The pattern calls for crossed single crochet stitches.

Spill the Beans Pillow

This pillow is aptly named after the stitch that it calls for – the bean stitch. The pattern is worked like a granny square from the center out. I love the great texture that the bean stitch imparts and the unique way that the colors of the self striping yarn play out as the rounds get larger and larger.

The Retro Throw Pillow

Let’s go retro with these fun and funky crochet flower throw pillows. Crocheted entirely in single crochet stitches, these cute cushions are made similar to crochet pumpkins where yarn is wrapped around the edges to form the petal shapes.  Then the center part is crocheted separately and sewn on.

Pawprint Pillow

One thing that both cat lovers and dog lovers can agree on is that this pillow is paw-sitively adorable. It is crocheted using the corner to corner method. This is a fun way to create an image square by square – just like how tiny pixels on your phone screen make up the images you see. How neat is that?

Bulky Love to Cuddle Pillow

A fuzzy white faux fur heart adorns the center of this blushing pink pillow. If I made this pillow I would seriously never be able to stop petting it!
