Gift a coffee lover in your life a new mug, some coffee and this Easy Knit Coffee Cozy for a gift that’s sure to please.

Design Story and Inspiration for This Easy Knit Mug Cozy
It’s that time of year again where I design for my annual Holiday Maker’s Challenge!! This is the 7th year that I have done the challenge, and I’m excited to be doing it again!
I designed this pattern as part of the 2025 Holiday Maker’s Challenge, where we encourage each other to work to our holiday deadline. There are a few criteria for our patterns in the challenge, which are:
1. Uses stash yarn
2. Is easy to intermediate
3. Is small so it doesn’t take a long time to make
4. Is well received by gift recipients
This pattern fits the bill because you can make several mug cozies from a single skein of yarn and they make great gifts!
Yarn Options for Knit Mug Cozies
You can use most any yarn for mug cozies. Most of the time I use cotton, but I wanted to knit up a quick gift so I chose a bulky weight yarn that I had in my stash.
Feel free to use any bulky weight yarn (category #5) in your stash that gets gauge.
Pattern Details for this Face Scrubby Knitting Pattern
This pattern is meant to fit a standard-sized mug with a handle (not a travel mug). It has a button and buttonhole to easily fit around your mug.
It is knit in simple garter stitch and the broken rib stitch.
