Hello friends!! I’m hosting my first ever crochet a long (CAL) while so many of us are at home!! I hope you will join me.

Here is what we will be making:

Isn’t she adorable?? I’m so in love with this pattern and I plan on designing quite a few more dolls in the near future.

Here is what you will need:

1 skein tan or skin colored yarn (I used Lion Brand Coboo which is a size 3 yarn)

Size D (3.25mm) crochet hook

Safety eyes (or you can embroider the eyes easily)

Polyester fiberfill

Yarn for the dress and boots (I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease DK Cake and I like the way it subtly changed colors on the dress then matched perfectly for the boots)

Worsted weight yarn for hair (I used Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool)

Yarn needle

Stitch Marker (store bought or homemade!)

Here’s how it works:

Every week for three weeks we will work on one part of the doll, breaking it down like this:

Part 1: Legs and Body, April 11 at 9 AM CST

Part 2: Head, face and hair, April 18 at 9 AM CST

Part 3: Outfit, April 25 at 9 AM CST

Each week will have the written pattern on the blog and a step-by-step video tutorial. You will also have the option of buying the pdf up front for a small fee if you don’t want to wait for the pattern to be released over the weeks.

It starts Saturday, April 11, so be sure to sign up for the newsletter below so you don’t miss a thing!!

Yay!! I’ll have to try it with smaller yarn – I’m working with fingering weight now for another design and loving it.

      Hi Rose,

Have you watched the video tutorial for the dress? If you go to part 3 of the CAL, there is a video that will walk you through all the steps in making her dress. 🙂

Can you use a bigger hook for the doll body? It just will make the doll bigger right?

You can, but you should also use a thicker weight yarn if you do that because otherwise the stuffing will show.

How many grams of yarn do you use for the whole doll? I don’t have easy access to yarn so going to buy for the skin color just want to make sure I have enough.

I just made another doll and checked how many grams she took. For the skin color yarn, I used 44 grams. This was Lion Brand Coboo and I measured the skein before and after I crocheted her (without it’s label).

Yes! She is definitely beginner friendly. I’ve had several people contact me and say that they had never crocheted before and made her using the videos! 😀

She is around 14″ tall. I’m not sure exactly how big around her tummy is.

Hi, I am home bound after foot surgery so ordered yarn from Joanns. and had it picked up. In looking at your instructions again and clicking over to what the dress yarn is, I realize I bought a 4 weight. I was trying to get just what you suggested, it is a wool poly blend. Will this work or do I need to return and get 3 weight. ? Also, where is the link to buy the pdf. Thank you

Hi Karla! The weight of the yarn is more important than the fiber content. I’ve also used Lion Brand Mandala for clothes for her and it works just as well. I think you found the pdf because I think you messaged me on Etsy. 🙂
