Design Story and Inspiration for the Ridged Chevron Blanket
I love chevron crochet stitches, and it never ceases to amaze me how many different ways there are to work them. This is a very beginner-friendly chevron stitch, so I thought it was a wonderful stitch to create a beginner blanket (or a watch Netflix blanket!).
Yarn Options for a Moss Stitch Chevron Blanket
I chose Lion Brand Scarfie yarn because I love the color changes and it worked so, so well in the Diamond Stitch Blanket. This is one of my favorite bulky yarns, but I do want to caution you that it does contain 22% wool which can be irritating to some skin, so I would not use it for a baby blanket (I made myself a throw blanket with it).
You can use any bulky yarn that gets gauge (and getting gauge is totally up to you with a blanket!). This is a category #5 yarn.
Beginner Ridged Chevron Blanket Notes
I have it listed next to the approximate finished sizes, but I wanted to let you know that the gauge for this pattern does not exactly equal finished size due to the up and down nature of the stitch itself. It’s very close, but it may not equal exact sizes. Just wanted you to be aware. I did my best to measure and remeasure my own swatch and blanket.
So please note that the finished sizes are approximate, and as close as possible due to the nature of the stitch and larger stitch multiple (12 + 3).

Final Thoughts on the Ridged Chevron Blanket
That’s it! A simple one row repeat creates this gorgeous blanket. Use a slight color-changing yarn or even a stripe pattern and it is simply stunning!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this free pattern as much as I enjoyed designing it!
Happy Crocheting!
