I love to give and get homemade gifts and think the time and effort that goes into a handmade gift is worth more than an expensive gift that someone barely took time to think about.
I’ve been working on a series of hats to give my sons’ teachers (7 in all including assistants!) and am planning on releasing those patterns really soon!
Until then, here are 10 free last minute knitted gift ideas for that special person in your life, whether that be a friend, a coworker, or a child’s teacher. You can still knit a gift – even if you don’t have a lot of time!
The Best Last-Minute Knit Gift Ideas
I love this idea! How about a handmade cozy paired with a coffee gift? You can whip up a mug cozy in no time. This one is for a travel mug, but you can also find free patterns for traditional mugs if that is what you prefer.
A tiny sweater for your keys to keep them from scratching up the contents of your purse. I love these mini sweaters and would even consider them great ornaments or as part of your Christmas wrapping!
This is a great functional gift. I have a bunch of students who need these. If you know someone who is constantly losing their earbuds, (especially air pods!) then you need to knit this for them. Seriously.
Have a book lover in your life? Take the time to make them this great book cover! If you know what type of book they like you could pair it with a new book and then you are good to go!
These are cute and wouldn’t take long at all to knit. These could be for the fashionista in your life. I love quick and functional projects like these.
This is a great use for yarn scraps – and the design is simply lovely. You can whip up this headband (or ear warmer, whichever you want to call it!) in no time and have a lovely gift.
Made with super chunky yarn, this would knit up in a flash. Even though it looks like a larger project, the large yarn makes it work up quickly. Just buy a pillow insert and you are good to go.
These are as cute as they are functional, and quick enough to make you could give 2 or 3. I love wash cloths as they are so functional and can be made in so many patterns and styles.
I love Marie’s designs – and this one has a nice stitch pattern to it. Using bulky yarn it will work up quickly. So even though it looks like it would take a while, the larger yarn makes it a breeze.
Why not make an ornament to hang on their tree? Plus, you can try out some circular knitting AND Fair Isle at the same time!
Wow!! I hope this list inspires you to create your own knitted gifts – even if you don’t have a lot of time. I had a lot of fun putting together this quick list of knit gift ideas!!
