Succulents are taking the crochet world by storm. There are so many amazing crochet cacti out there – it seems like more and more pop up every day. The iconic cactus can be seen in just about every type of pattern out there – from accessories, to crochet for the home (things like a wall hanging), to decor.
Since cacti are shaped fairly simply, and easy to identify, it’s no wonder that the vast majority of free crochet cactus patterns we have curated for you today are easy peasy. That’s great news for beginner crocheters and anyone looking for a nice and relaxing weekend project. Most of the projects we are featuring today use just basic crochet stitches like single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet.
Another common stitch theme you will see in our free crochet cactus patterns is texture. The signature bumps and spines of cactus plants are recreated in crochet form with bobble stitches, post stitches, and more. I love the dimension that texture adds to any project and the way the surface of the work feels when you run your hand across it.
I know some people think of the cactus theme as a summer thing, but truthfully, a cactus plant can be enjoyed all year round. We even have a few very special free crochet cactus patterns for you today that have a Christmas theme! Scroll down and prepare to be inspired.

Desert Cactus C2C Throw
Add a touch of sunshine to a drap day with this delightful desert cactus throw from Nana’s Crafty Home. The corner to corner method is my favorite technique for creating images with crochet stitches – one tile at a time. This would be a good C2C pattern for beginners because it’s not complicated and there are only 6 colors.
