As a mom of four boys, I hear a lot about dragons. My third son, especially, loves them and even recently asked for a crochet dragon for a gift. I found the most adorable one ever, then thought I could crochet him one!
Dragons come in just about every color, shape, and size and there are so many ways you can create an amigurumi dragon pattern. In this pattern collection, we are going to check 19 of the best free crochet dragons out there – you’re sure to find one you love!
So how do you crochet a dragon anyway? Most of these patterns use amigurumi techniques such as single crochet in continuous rounds to create the structure of the body, then add in fun elements like wings, ears, arms, and legs (and of course a tail!) to make your crochet dragon pattern complete.
To make a dragon crochet pattern, you will need the following materials (check your pattern for more instructions, but these are the basics): yarn, crochet hook, toy stuffing, yarn needle, and safety eyes. You will also need to know how to do the magic ring, chain stitch, single crochet stitch, and slip stitch (sl st). There is also usually some sewing involved.
So whether you are new to crochet or have been crocheting for years, there is a crochet dragon pattern in this collection for you!

It would be nice if the category was “free dragon patterns” you would only give links to a complete free pattern instead of just a wing or tail. I was excited to make the mermaid dragon until I found out you have to pay for the pattern. Guess I will check out one of the other links.
