Have you ever completed a project and then decided that it didn’t look quite finished for some reason? Do you want to add a handmade touch to premade textiles like pillow cases, blankets, and towels? If either of these ring true for you, then you are going to just love these free crochet lace edging patterns!
Us crocheters sure can be gluttons for punishment sometimes. We get done with a project only to take a second look and decide that we could do a little bit better. Adding a border can be the special finishing touch that takes a project from just good to really great. That’s why I know you’re going to love these crocheted lace edging patterns!
Of course, you can also use these crocheted lace edging patterns to add some yarny goodness to things other than crochet. Let me explain. You can take a tea towel and add some crochet trim to instantly make it fancier. You can complete a baby blanket in a fraction of the time by using fleece or flannel and just adding a crochet border around it.
You can also use these neat crocheted lace edging patterns to revamp your wardrobe. Why not add an edging onto a top or a skirt that’s a little too short. Or you could do the same thing with high water pants or sleeves that don’t quite reach your wrists. In this way, you can see that these border designs can actually be really practical and useful!
There are a ton of great designs out there for borders, but I’m especially partial to the lace ones. They just make everything feel a little bit more glamorous!
You will see what I mean once you start scrolling down to check out all of the fabulous crochet lace edging patterns that we have on offer for you today. Written patterns and some with video tutorials, too!

Common Questions about Crochet Lace Edging Patterns
You can put a lacy border on any project, but my favorites are crochet baby blankets, adding a touch of crochet to fleece blankets, a kitchen towel edging, knit blankets, to add interest to short sleeves, and so many more. A lacy border gives an elegant touch even to a simple pattern. The best part? Mahy of these lacy edge patterns are so easy that someone of any skill level can do them!
Borders are amazing for hiding not so straight edges, so it makes sense to at least do a round of single crochet as a border. Other wonderful borders for afghans are the picot stitch, a simple edge made with chains and a slip stitch, the crab stitch, which is a reverse single crochet, and an easy moss stitch border. Of these, the picot edge would be the most like a lacy border.
