This easy crochet dishcloth pattern creates a beautifully textured cotton cloth thatโs perfect for the kitchen. Prefer handmade washcloths? The same pattern works beautifully as a crochet washcloth, too.

Design Story and Inspiration for This Easy Crochet Dishcloth
The Mixed Cluster Stitch has been one of my favorite crochet stitches for years. Iโve used it for everything from a blanket to face scrubbies and a mug cozy, and I keep coming back to it because of its beautiful texture. This time, I wanted to use it again for something that would be just as practical as it is pretty.
A crochet dishcloth felt like the perfect fit! The Mixed Cluster Stitch creates a wonderfully textured fabric that works beautifully for everyday kitchen use, but the stitch itself is surprisingly simple. With just a two-row repeat, itโs easy enough for a beginner to master while still creating a finished piece with plenty of visual interest.
Yarn Options for Crochet Dishcloths
For dishcloths, cotton is one of the best fiber choices. Itโs naturally absorbent, durable, and well suited to projects that are going to get wet and be washed frequently. A tightly spun cotton is especially useful for kitchen projects because it creates a sturdy fabric that stands up well to regular use. Many cotton yarns designed for dishcloths are also machine washable, making them much more practical than fibers that require special care.
I used a DK weight cotton yarn (Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton) for my Mixed Cluster Stitch Dishcloth. Iโve used this particular yarn for several other projects, and Iโve been impressed by how well it holds up, even when I toss the finished pieces into the washer and dryer. You donโt have to use the exact yarn I chose, though. Look for a DK weight cotton with good stitch definition and easy-care instructions. Cotton is particularly nice with the Mixed Cluster Stitch because it shows off all that beautiful texture while still creating an absorbent, useful dishcloth. If you substitute another yarn, be sure to check its care label since washing and drying instructions vary by yarn.
