Crochet a sweet floral onesie and hat with these free crochet patterns from Red Heart. Available as free download from Yarnspirations.
Everyone that knows me knows how much I love designing baby things, so it’s no surprise that I teamed up with Red Heart to create this onesie and hat combo.
Design Story and Inspiration for the Floral Onesie and Hat
I love the cute little onesies that have flowers on the back. Usually the flowers are made of tulle or other fabric, but I thought “why not a crochet version?”
So I set out to design a cute little floral onesie and hat set that would be easy to make and look adorable on any little one!
About the Yarn…
It uses one of my favorite yarns – Baby Hugs! I have used the medium and light versions of this yarn in several baby items because it has been tested to be free from harmful levels of 300 substances and that makes me feel even more comfortable using it with a baby.
Plus, it comes in a ton of different colors and makes great blankets, baby booties, and more!

Pattern Details
The onesie is sized for ages 6, 12, 18, and 24 months and features floral detailing at the back and one for the hat. It is constructed with a v-stitch for an interesting texture and the sleeves are crocheted in. (That’s right – NO sewing sleeves in!)
This was the first project I ever tried crocheting the sleeves right onto the body as opposed to crocheting them separately and sewing them in later. I loved it! Plus I really think this technique gives it a nicer finish than a sleeve seam. What do you think?
