Common Questions about Infinity Scarves
This depends on which way you are knitting it. If you are working a knitted scarf or cowl pattern on straight needles you may only need 20 stitches or so wide and then you will work like a regular scarf until it is the appropriate length and then seam it. An infinity scarf worked in the round on circular needles can have 60 or more stitches to complete the round.
For an infinity scarf knitting project you will need knitting needles (of course) that are appropriate for the scarf you are making, whether straight or circular. You will also need the yarn of your choice, a yarn needle (also called a tapestry needle) for weaving in ends and scissors. If you have cables you might also need a cable needle.
If you aren’t used to circular needles the best way is to knit an infinity scarf on straight needles like a traditional scarf and seam it once you are done. The seam can rest behind the neck and shouldn’t be seen.
