Design Story and Inspiration for the Sawtooth Star Baby Blanket
I love traditional quilt blocks, and I had been thinking of creating a c2c crochet pattern that had the feel of a modern day quilt. I really love the sawtooth star quilt blocks, so I decided to try my hand at designing a crochet pattern with this design.
I went to work on my charting software, chose a combination of my favorite colors, and the Sawtooth Star Crochet Blanket was born!
This blanket uses the C2C crochet method, where you work double crochet stitches for the entire blanket (except the border). It’s an easy method once you get the hang of it, but if you need more help there are a lot of resources out there (and I’m working on my own to add to the blog, too).
If you don’t know how to work corner to corner crochet, you can still make this blanket using the chart! You can use simple double crochet and you can learn how with this fun tutorial from my friend at Winding Road Crochet.
Yarn Options for This Fun C2C Crochet Blanket
I chose Lion Brand Feels Like Butta for this design, and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out! Feels Like Butta is so super soft and easy to care for. I’ve used it in several blanket designs and it never disappoints.
Feels Like Butta is a worsted weight polyester yarn. Feel free to substitute any yarn you like for this pattern, but be aware that a different yarn weight will affect the final size (and that may be the result you desire).
For a much larger blanket, I would suggest using a blanket yarn or a super bulky yarn like Lion Brand Wool-Ease. This way you can use the same chart and get a larger result.
C2C Baby Quilt Pattern Notes
This pattern is created with the standard c2c crochet method and has a seed stitch border (sc, ch 1). It is easy to do if you know how to c2c crochet. If you don’t know how to work c2c crochet it is easy to learn with a tutorial such as this one from TL Yarn Crafts:
Toni does such an amazing job of explaining how to work this technique that I feel like I couldn’t do a better job myself! If you are new to C2C, check out her video above!

Final Thoughts on the Crochet Sawtooth Square Baby Blanket
I hope you have enjoyed this free pattern as much as I enjoyed designing it! It was crocheted by the amazing Elisa from Strings and Cuddles and designed by me! I’m loving C2C crochet so much you can expect to see more of it on the blog. ☺️
Happy Crocheting!

I just noticed row 13 is missing .
Oh my!!! You are right! I went in and added it. I had to put in the rows as images and somehow that one got left off. Thank you!
