For a basic pattern you’ll need brown yarn or beige yarn, a crochet hook that matches the weight of your yarn, a yarn needle (also called a tapestry needle), a stitch marker or two, and you’ll need a bit of scrap white yarn for the “icing” an any other colors you might want to have on your design.
You’ll need to know how to chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), and work single crochet stitches. It is also helpful to know how to do the magic ring. Just a tip: remember to leave a long tail when you fasten off to use for seaming!
