I’ve seen people online posting about Dollar Tree Yarn and hadn’t seen any at my local store until recently. Let me tell you, I was excited to try it out!!
Here is the main display of Dollar Tree Yarn in my local store:
They also had an end cap full of yarn:
Dollar Tree right now is carrying four different types of Premier Yarn and I bought one skein of every color they had (over 40 at my local Dollar Tree store!).
Dollar Tree Yarn Selection
Dollar Tree has really upped their selection of craft supplies. I’ve been so pleasantly surprised to see many diy items there including a hot glue gun, hot glue sticks (including glitter ones!), paints, wood crafts, rope, pom pom, twine, fabric (felt), ribbon, stickers and so many more craft ideas!
These little skeins were hanging out in the craft section:
And they also had a few hooks and needles!

In fact, there are entire YouTube channels devoted to Dollar Tree crafts! Many of these items are much better priced than a craft store, and I decided to try out the Dollar Tree yarn since I know many people are very budget conscious and yarn can be expensive.
The different types they have are:
Just Cotton
Just Yarn Worsted
Just Yarn Tweed
Just Chenille
There were also some skeins of Crafter’s Square Acrylic Yarn at my local store, but I’m not sure if this is a regular thing.
The reason I bought so many is that they had so many different colors! I was so excited to see this. The biggest selection was in the Just Yarn Worsted, and I saw many other colors online.
Speaking of online, the minimum order is only 6 skeins so it would be super easy to order from the Dollar Tree website to get exactly what you want sent to your local store!

Dollar Tree Yarn Haul
I was super, super excited and bought one of every color they had so don’t be surprised if you start seeing these yarns on the blog very soon! Like I mentioned above, it was over FORTY skeins so they do have quite a selection if you can find a Dollar Tree that carries them.
DIY Ideas for Dollar Tree Yarn + Honest Review
With yarn at this price point, you could make a ton of great crafts! Here are some things I’m planning with mine and will add to this with links as the projects go live:
Home Decor such as a wreath, yarn covered paper mache letters, etc.
Halloween knitting and crochet projects such as decor, costumes, and more.
Gift ideas like an inexpensive hat, scarf, etc.
DIY Christmas including an ornament, stocking, Christmas tree and other Christmas themed craft projects.
I have a feeling I’m going to be crocheting with this a lot, and I can’t wait to see what I can do with this yarn haul. I already had quite a stash but couldn’t wait to try this out!
I’ve tried every different type of yarn on this list so far and I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised. For the price they are comparable to more expensive yarns and you get a decent yardage out of each skein, although they are smaller than the ones at your local craft store. Definitely great for some inexpensive gifts!
All of these yarns tend to be on the lighter side of the weight they are advertised as, so a worsted weight feels more toward the DK side and the chenille yarn is barely a super bulky, so keep that in mind as you are checking out these yarns to use for a pattern.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting!

I’ve used some of the Dollar Tree yarn and I really like it!! I’ve used the tweed and worsted with some regular worsted yarn in a sweater and it worked really well. I’m making an amigurumi bear with some chenille that is really cute. I also have some cotton but haven’t used it yet. I think the DT yarn is a definite winner for me! Thanks for your review!
I happened upon the yarn too, a couple of months ago. I quickly gathered about 20 different skeins of different colors, and also one of their reusable bags that had a crafty design on it. I gave it to a friend that was moving, and she loves to do plastic canvas needlepoint. She loved it all!
There’s a small Dollar Tree near me that I visit often. At first all it had was Premier Cotton and I bought several skeins each time I was there. It’s very good cotton yarn and works up nicely. I was there just a few days ago and they had Premier Just Worsted in many beautiful colors. I bought a bag full! 😉 It’s so soft and a joy to work with!
I did the same thing! I was in awe of all the colors they had. Being a beginner this is a great way to stay within a budget to try out many patterns.
It really is!! I’m using the yarn in some upcoming projects and I have to say it’s working out well – especially for $1 😀
