Mosaic Blanket

Is there a way to knit a 2-color project working with only one color of yarn at a time? There is, and it’s amazing! The mosaic knitting technique makes colorwork easy and the instructions are straightforward. The only stitches you need to know for this stunning and free knit afghan pattern are knit, slip, and sometimes purl.

Paintbox Log Cabin Blanket

When your scrap pile starts getting bigger than your yarn stash, you need this scrap happy log cabin blanket in your life, especially if you're looking for easy blanket knitting patterns. Working with only 15 stitches at a time allows you to use regular straight needles. The strips of color that form each square are joined as you work them, and then the squares are sewn together at the very end.

Garter Squish

Garter stitch isn’t just for beginners and purl-haters. I prefer garter stitch for blankets because of the lovely squishy texture that you can really sink into. Working this blanket double-stranded will have it finished in half the time - and it will be nice and heavy too! The icing on the cake is the polished i-cord edge. And the best part? I'm providing this as a free pattern, so you can enjoy creating this cozy piece without any cost.

Mitered Corner Blanket

Double-stranded knits are the easiest blanket technique and a great way to gradually change colors for the prettiest transitions you’ve ever seen. This colorful and free-knit afghan pattern has no special stitches and no sewing. Choose between small or large throw sizes and you’re on your way!

Diagonal Eyelet Baby Blanket

Skip the chore of casting on a billion stitches and you can get right to the fun part with this essential free-knit afghan pattern, worked diagonally. The yarn weight chosen adds to the cozy feel, making it perfect for snuggling. I love the look of blankets knit on the bias and the textured stripes. You’ll be alternating between garter stitch panels and easy lace panels, creating a delightful mix of textures that's both visually appealing and wonderfully tactile.

Easy Puzzle Blanket

At first glance, this textured blanket looks complicated, but look again and you’ll see that it’s made from 4 triangles. Cleverly placed stripes within each triangle give this blanket its striking appearance. The textured feel adds an extra layer of coziness and visual interest. It's even easier when you consider the fact that it’s entirely knit in garter stitch!

Winter Cuddler Throw Blanket

Stitch sampler-style blankets are not just important for their aesthetic appeal, but they embody all you need in a cozy, tactile experience. They are so much fun to make and even more delightful to look at and feel. You can recreate this symphony of textures using techniques like garter stitch, stockinette stitch, broken seed stitch, seed stitch, and ridged eyelets. The free-knit afghan pattern, encompassing all you need for a personalized touch, is available in 3 different sizes.

Western Hills Blanket

If you don’t have any DK-weight yarn on hand, don’t worry. This blanket was designed in three different yarn weights - fingering, DK, and worsted - so that you can use whatever you have on hand to enhance your knitting experience. Talk about a stash-buster! Plus, there are also four blanket sizes to choose from.

Radiating Star Blanket

Start with a star and go around and around until you reach the size you want. This beautiful blanket is almost too pretty to use! I think it would look lovely on top of your bedspread or across the back of the couch. To ensure your project turns out as gorgeous as intended, it's important to follow the pattern carefully. Generally, the design is worked in the round from the center out - all in one piece.

Sediment Scraps Blanket

This is yet another garter stitch blanket worked on the bias, and yet it looks completely different! I love the way all the colors mix in their soft stripes - it reminds me of a watercolor painting. Plus, it’s a total stash-buster! Wonderful, isn't it? Should I finish this, does that mean I get to go out and buy more yarn when I’m done?

Petits Pins

A beautiful monochrome blanket, embodying the essence of simple knitting, is a great choice for a wedding gift. It can be enjoyed for many years and passed on to the next generation as a family heirloom, becoming the coziest blanket in their home. The lovely lacework in this free-knit afghan pattern is framed with a garter stitch border, showcasing the charm of minimalist design. You’ll use knit stitches, slip-slip knits, and yarnovers to create this piece, blending traditional techniques with modern simplicity.

Heirloom Chevron Throw

Here's another super easy knitting pattern that might not look easy at first glance. Using 6 shades of one color in bold color block chevrons, you can recreate this geometric ombre design. Plus, since it's knit entirely in a garter stitch, it has the benefit of being reversible, adding versatility to your knitting patterns.

Lizard Ridge

Play with color and shape in this beautiful blanket. The free-knit afghan pattern uses short rows to make the lovely ups and downs you see. The modular design is great for taking your knitting on the go since you will be working the blanket one block at a time. Grab your hook to finish it off with a crochet shell stitch edging.

Optic Blanket

Talk about a statement blanket! The "good wool" used in this chunky blanket not only adds to its luxurious feel but also highlights the intricate lines that create lots of different shapes. The longer you look at them, the more you’ll see! This is another free-knit afghan pattern featuring a modular join-as-you-go design, perfect for crafting a cozy, chunky blanket. And you know what that means - no sewing!

Cuddle Me

Cables and lace and everything nice, that's what this beautiful knit blanket is crafted of! This is another stunning example of a monochrome blanket that is anything but boring. The rich textures and little columns of eyelets are knit together in a harmonious design, all crafted in one piece, so you can just focus on your stitchwork.

Knot Stitch Baby Blanket

Don’t you just want to run your hand across all the lovely little nubs of texture in these blanket knitting patterns? The enticing and touchable texture you see owes its thanks to the knot stitch. The knot stitch, a staple in blanket knitting patterns, is quick to pick up and easy to master. The garter stitch border, another common feature in these patterns, helps the blanket look more finished and helps prevent the edges from curling up.

Ten Stitch Zigzag

This colorful blanket has its fair share of ups and downs. The strips are knit separately so you only have to juggle ten stitches at a time, but don’t worry about sewing because you’ll be joining as you go! A basic garter lets you take your mind off the stitches and focus on the colors. I think this design would work especially well for a temperature or mood blanket.

Quilt and Cable Blanket

Absolutely! This needed free-knit afghan pattern, which doubles as a cozy knit blanket pattern, only calls for 4 skeins of yarn. This affordable blanket design features undulating cable work and lots and lots of texture, making it a delightful project to work on. It looks so fun to make and it’s definitely gift-worthy too!

Check Me Out Bed Throw

Stop scrolling! This isn’t just another free-knit Afghan pattern made of squares. Well, it is, but this bright and colorful blanket, perfect as a fall cuddler chunky blanket, is worked all in one piece in back-and-forth rows. You’ll be changing colors every 16 stitches and working in a stockinette stitch. I would recommend this pattern for practice working with bobbins.

Gansey Throw

Here’s another texture-tastic sampler-style blanket. I love free-knit afghan patterns that teach me new knitting stitches because I get so much practice on big projects like this. This design calls for double moss, diagonal stripe, diamond brocade, and beaded rib stitchwork.

Double Moss Faded Throw

Fade from dark to light with luscious super bulky yarn and the addictively easy double moss stitch. The border of this blanket is worked all at the same time as the main blanket in a different stitch pattern. Both pattern stitches require only knit and purl stitches. It’s so easy!

Yarn: Cape May Fiber American (Super Bulky Weight #6)

Kites Blanket

Sit back and relax while the color-changing cake yarn does all the hard work. You never have to worry about color matching or switching colors when you work with cake yarn - and there are fewer ends to weave in too.  This design calls for knit, purl, yarn over, slip knit pass, and slip slip knit stitches.

Rockwell Blanket

Combine a modular design with a half-log cabin design and you get a whole new look that’s different and unique. Apart from the interesting construction, this free-knit Afghan pattern is easy. If you know how to do the garter stitch and how to pick up stitches, then you’re good to go!

I want to get the patterns for that Knitted Aphgan you showed on Tv. The One that had 12 different stitched squares. Do you have a kit for that one?
