Is it finally starting to feel like spring where you are? We are having spells of spring weather followed by more cold and I am so ready for true spring. Here in the South we have been known to skip spring temperatures altogether and go from cold to really hot without much in-between and I’m hoping this year is not like that! But, even if it is I know I can still wear this sweater even into the warmer months!
I designed this sweater with one of my favorite yarns – Malabrigo Worsted. I adore the color changes in this yarn and every shade I have ever used of any Malabrigo yarn has been incredible, making them one of my all-time favorite yarn companies. This design is very simple so it is great for someone pretty new to crochet. If you know how to dc and ch then you are all set! The only seaming is at the sides and top. You could easily stitch the entire sleeve open but I like the open look of the split sleeve.
This is a size small sweater that I am wearing and on me it has negative ease. This really looks better with more ease and if I had made it for myself I would have made it larger. You can see how the sleeve hangs on the model here:
Much better than on me but I don’t have anyone to model for me. I felt pretty self-conscious modeling a sweater after 4 kids and the youngest not even 5 months old but I really, really wanted to share this pattern with you guys. You can see more of the original photos by clicking here. This pattern originally appeared in I Like Crochet magazine.

Very pretty! Since I have pretty much done an Afghan for everyone I would give one to, I am now making sweaters. I will definitely order the pdf for extended sizes, thanks!
amanda
Hi Kristy!! Hope all is well with you. 🙂 This is a super easy sweater pattern, too. I hope you try it!
Dominique

un petit bonjour de france :))
Sharon WILLIAMS
I have tried 4 times to get the free download so I can have access to the extended sizes. For some reason I am unable to figure out it is not working. I would really love to make this pattern! Any help you might be able to give will be greatly appreciated!
Thank You!

I also have having some difficulty requesting the extended size patterns. I need 2XL at least. Can you also give me an idea of how to extend to 3X or 4X? If not, I take the 2X and be very happy. Thank you for your wonderfully written patterns and videos.
amanda
Hi Davette! Did the pdf ever come through? If not I can email it to you – just let me know! To make this larger you would need to add pattern repeats in the middle (just extra V-sts!) and make the sleeves larger by adding more rows. I’m not sure exactly how big you would like it to be but this is a super easy pattern to adjust since it’s just the same piece front and back and the sleeves are made in. 🙂
Karen Higdon
Please email me the pattern as well. I am unable to download.
thanks, Karen
amanda
Hi Karen! I didn’t realize when I changed email providers that this error had occurred – you can now view all the sizes on the post! 🙂
Carol
Good Morning, First let me say you look terrific after all your babies and the sweater looks really nice on you I think the fit is just right but like me after my four babies I also like to have some ease on a pattern just to make me feel comfortable. This sweater pattern is a nice simple one and I’m sure a lot of knitters and crocheters will love it. I also would need this pattern in a larger size. Thank you for sharing the pattern with us.-nanad
amanda
Thank you Carol! I’ve added the larger sizes to this pattern post. I hope you enjoy 🙂
Kathy Braden
Hi! I love this pattern, so I made a swatch and am ready to go. I tried several times to download the pdf for the extended sized and couldn’t. So frustrating. I would love to do this in a 1X. Is the pattern a 3 + 1 repeat? Maybe I could figure it out for the larger size. Thank you
amanda
Hi Kathy! I’m adding the larger sizes to this pattern’s post. I was doing it as a subscriber exclusive but that has ended and it’s available for everyone! Hope you enjoy 🙂
Judy Norris
Could you use a different type of yarn with this pattern. We are all allergic to wool. I would love to make this
amanda
Hi Judy!
This could be made in any yarn you like! I think a great cotton yarn would be amazing. As long as you get gauge with your yarn choice it should work out fine. 🙂

Ok i was having a great time making my first shirt, until i got to row 5. I chained 19 and did what the pattern said and it looks good. So i did the V st all the way across, so now do i chain 19 for the other end too? Row 6 says to repeat row 5, i’m just so confused i thought i better ask you what to do. LOL Help please.
amanda
So glad to hear it’s been going well until this! Yes, when you get to the end of Row 5 you will ch 19 again and do the V st all the way across again. This way you get two sleeves. 😀 After this you work even so you’re almost there!
Gail
When I do the chain 19 and work back and forth until I get the measurement needed I end up with one side having one less row on the sleeve. Is this how it is supposed to work out?
amanda
Yes, due to the nature of adding the sleeve with dc. What I did was I made sure to flip the other side so that the sleeve with the extra row on the front was sewn to the sleeve without the extra row on the back (and the opposite on the other side) and it worked out just fine. No one has ever been able to tell.
