Face scrubbies are a wonderfully easy knit holiday gift – whip up a few with a spa gift basket (or a spa gift card!) and you have a great gift!
Design Story and Inspiration for This Free Knitting Pattern
Every year for my holiday challenge I design something very small and easy for that last minute gift, or for those who have a lot of gifts to knit. Face scrubbies are wonderful small gifts, so many times they make it to the challenge!
I honestly use all the face scrubbies I’ve made for my challenges (haven’t been able to part with any lol). They get thrown in the wash with the rest of the clothes and reused – and they hold up great!
I designed this as part of the 2024 Holiday Maker’s Challenge, where we encourage each other to work to our holiday deadline. There are a few criteria for our patterns in the challenge, which are:
1. Uses stash yarn
2. Is easy to intermediate
3. Is small so it doesn’t take a long time to make (we have a lot of gifts to make, okay?)
4. Is well received by gift recipients

Yarn Options for These Easy Face Scrubbies
I used Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton for this pattern, a wonderful cotton yarn in the DK weight category (category #3). This is one of my favorite cotton yarns, and it is found at Hobby Lobby here in the US.
Any cotton DK yarn will work fine, so bust that stash and get knitting!
Textured Knit Face Scrubby Details
I picked a textured stitch that looks great on both sides, and the texture of this stitch works wonderfully for gently scrubbing off makeup or skincare products such as masks.
It’s just a simple combination of knit and purls, so no difficult stitches here! Even a beginner can knit these easy face scrubbies.
