Free Crochet Pattern - 30 Minute Coffee Cozy by Amanda Saladin

I needed a super quick gift and decided to whip up a coffee cozy to go with a mug I picked up at my local Wal Mart.  I wanted a handmade gift but with all the things going on this holiday season I just didn’t have the time to crochet a larger project.  I just finished making all the hats for my sons’ teachers and just ran out of time for anything else before Christmas Day.

But this gift is for a coffee lover so I created this cozy and had a few moments to create a knit version as well, then threw in some nice bags of coffee and the gift was done!  This version took me less time because I crochet so much faster than I knit.  In fact, it actually took me a little less than 30 minutes.  If you’re looking for a project with instant gratification, this is it! 🙂

FASTEST Crochet Coffee Cozy EVER! (Beginner Tutorial)

30 Minute Coffee Cozy

What You’ll Need

Yarn: Premier Yarns Serenity Chunky in Pristine (Bulky, category #5)

Hook: Size K (6.5 mm)

Notions: Yarn needle, 1″ wooden toggle clasp or 1″ button

Gauge: 15 sts and 10 rows = 4″ in seed st

Finished Measurements:  Approx. 12″ long and 3 1/2″ wide to fit mug 12″ in circumference and 4 1/2″ tall

Notes: This length worked for my particular cup.  After you work quite a few rows keep trying it on your cup to see how long it needs to be.  You may find it needs to be a little shorter or longer than mine.

I think I’m doing something wrong. My blanket seems very very long but not very wide! It’s kind of a rectangle!! Ha! I love how you teach! Your voice is very calming. And you don’t go too fast. Thanks. Glad I found your site. Hope you can tell me what I’m doing wrong.

Hi Deb! I’m not sure which pattern you are referring to – this is the mug cozy post. 🙂 Which blanket are you making?

I’m sorry!!! The blue ombré blanket. It’s gorgeous! It’s just shaped funny!

Most all of my blankets are rectangles about 24″ x 36″. 🙂 If you need it to be wider, you can add a border on the sides or work the same stitch pattern on the sides. If you want to start over, you can chain a larger number of stitches. Any of these options will work.

I really want to make this but I am a beginner and having some trouble with skipping stitches and then finding them in the next rows. Do you have a video for this pattern?

I’m sorry I don’t have a video for this one just yet. I’m trying to work my way back and get all of the videos made.
