Here at our house we are enjoying our last weekend together as a family of five – our new little guy is coming on Monday! I’ve been induced with all of our boys and it is that time for our last to arrive. We have spent this Thanksgiving weekend getting all the tiny clothes, toys and other items together and it is finally really sinking in that we are having a baby in two days. Two days!! Part of me is sad because we know this is the last one (I mean, really, four boys is enough to keep us crazy busy!) but at the same time I think I am ready to move past this point in our lives and move past the baby stage but four has always been my dream.
For this week’s free pattern, I just really had to create something for baby C so I decided on a quick and easy pair of baby booties. I always wanted to do some kind of loafer but usually ended up with a feminine pair and put this design by the wayside. Not this time! I want this kiddo to wear these in the hospital so I made up my mind to finish these. It was my first time using Berroco Cotton for baby booties and this yarn was absolutely perfect for these. I had a partial skein left from another project and it was way more than enough. I made these a little smaller than usual since I wanted a newborn size, but I’ve included the other sizes I normally add so you can make these up to a 6-12 month if you like. 🙂

Sooo Cute – can’t wait to try them!!!
Hi I’m having a hard time understanding the 3 rd round is there anyway u can help me
Hi Diana,
Is this round 3 of the sole or the body of the shoe?
Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your pattern! I am making a pair for my nephew who is due in a month 😊 I am having a bit of trouble with the pattern unfortunately. I assume your pattern is in US terms. On the first and second rounds, after finishing the last bit of each step, I always have 3 sts left before the start of the round! The first round I added 3 more sc to get to the stitch marker, the second round i skipped the 3 sts and started round 3 at the stitch marker. However this has made the sole a bit wonky so it looks like it should be a right shoe, instead of a shoe that can fit either foot. Help….? ☺
Hi Mai,
What size are you making? I will take a look at the numbers and see what might be happening.
Hi Amanda,
I’m sorry, it appears that I made a mistake! I followed your instructions again very slowly this time and it has worked perfectly 🙂 I’m making the smallest size. I think I’ve got it now.
Once you finish the body’s last stitch and done the invisible join, do you then just sew in the end into the next stitch to bring that last round to the same level? Thanks!
So glad to hear it is working out well! 🙂 Yes, sew the end into the next st to level it out and weave in the ends.
I made a pair of 0-3 months using red heart super saver and a 3.75mm hook. They are absolutely beautiful but seem a little on the large side for a new born. I am thinking my yarn is too thick. I believe the stuff I have is medium weight. Should I perhaps invest in a lighter weight to get the appropriate size?
Hi Melody! Yes, you need a lighter yarn to make the newborn size. The yarn I used is thinner than the Red Heart. 🙂
Hi Amanda. I seem to be having a problem doing your pattern for 3-6 months. I followed your pattern 3 times and it just seems like not the correct count. Would you be able to help me with this? Have you done pattern for 3-6 months?
Hi Vi! What part are you having trouble with? Let me know and I will take a look at it. 🙂
Amanda, thank you so much for a great pattern and very helpful video!
