Guys, this is seriously one of the easiest patterns ever! And, it will give you a chance to test out your tapestry crochet skills. If you need a gift in a hurry, this is the one for you!

I recently released the Mitten Gift Card Holder, and I love this tiny mitten, but I know some people will balk at the thumb shaping. After all, I did make a mitten in miniature, including the way I shape the thumb.

So I wanted to make a gift card holder that was a bit easier, like I did a few years ago with my Last Minute Gift Card Holders. But I didn’t want to use just any stitch, so I decided on a plaid one!

Plaid anything just looks better, right? I sure think so! I am in love with this gift card holder and it already has a gift card for a special teacher in it. Who would you make yours for?

Buffalo Plaid Gift Card Holder

What You’ll Need

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease, 1 skein each in Black (MC), Cranberry (CC1), and Ranch Red (CC2)

Hook: US Size J (6.00mm)

Notions: Yarn needle, scissors

Gauge: 18 sts and 16 rows = 4″ in sc

Finished Size: Approximately 2.25″ wide by 4″ long. Fits a standard sized gift card as shown (Yes, we like Firehouse Subs!)

With MC, ch 21.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across (20 sts).

Rows 2-15: Sc using chart.

Created with Stitch Fiddle: www.StitchFiddle.com

Finishing

Fold gift card holder in half with right side facing out. (If you can’t tell which is the right side, just use the side you like best!)

Seam bottom and side seam.

Weave in ends.

That’s it!! This is a bit more challenging thanks to the color chart, but it’s a great gift that allows you to practice some new skills.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this free crochet pattern! You can view all of my free crochet patterns here.

Happy Crocheting!
