Oh, man, am I loving crochet footwear! I can’t believe I’ve been crocheting so long and only made footwear for babies up until last month!
These are so easy and quick to make – and they go perfectly with the Baby Butterfly Slippers for a perfect Mommy and Me set!
Using the chunky/bulky Color Made Easy makes these slippers work up in a flash and you will love this yarn. It’s soft and squishy and very easy to care for. Win-win!
If you like, you can put some Sock Stop on the bottom to keep from slipping, or you can sew on some leather or suede patches to the toe and heel areas of the bottom. I wear mine as-is and sometimes “skate” around the house! Haha! The boys love it!

What You’ll Need
Yarn: Lion Brand Color Made Easy, (bulky, size 5), 1 skein Basalt
Hook: US Size I/9 (5.5mm)
Notions: Yarn Needle, scissors, two 1/2 inch buttons
Gauge: 13 sts and 8 rows = 4″ in dc
Finished Size:
To fit Women’s size 4-6 (7-9, 10-12)
Foot circumference 7 (7.5, 8)”
Foot length 8 (9, 10)”
Notes: For a neater look, use a chainless dc instead of the ch 3 at the beginning of rows. (See video tutorial for help)
Ch 3 or chainless dc counts as stitch.
Slippers will have some “give” to them and will fit a range of sizes as shown above.

Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
PATTERN
Make magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, 7 dc in magic ring, pull tightly and join with slip st to top of chain (8 sts).
Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join with slip st to top of chain (16 sts).
Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, *dc, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around, join with slip st to top of chain (24 sts). For size 4-6, skip the last 2 increases for a total of (22 sts). For size 10-12, work 2 extra increases for a total of (26 sts).
Rounds 4-7: Ch 3, work even on 22 (24, 26) sts in dc, join with slip st to top of chain.
Pattern is worked flat in rows from this point to the end.
Row 1: Ch 3, dc in next 14 (16, 18) sts; turn – 14 (16, 18) sts.
Rows 2-10 (12, 14): Ch 3, work even on 14 (16, 18) sts in dc; turn.
Slip st in first st of row to close heel.
Sc evenly around opening. If desired, work a second round of sc.
Fasten off.

Strap
Left Foot
Join yarn on right side 1″ back from the end of Round 7 (where you switched to working in rows).
Row 1: Ch 3, dc in next st; turn (2 sts).
Rows 2-7 (9, 11): Work even in dc on 2 sts.
Button should slip easily between dc of last row.
Sew button on opposite side.
Right Foot
Work same as left, but start strap on left side of shoe.
Finishing
Use mattress stitch to sew seam in back.
Sew button directly opposite strap about 1/2″ down from row of sc OR you could make the butterfly from the Baby Butterfly Booties and have a matching Mommy and Me set!!
Weave in ends.

Thank you for this tutorial on the slippers. They look cute & easy. I picked up this craft hobby after the pandemic started & it saved my sanity. So I am beginner & improving! Your demonstration of the mattress stitch was very helpful to me b/c I watched you do the entire seam. (So nice looking!) Hope mine come out as well. I do have a request. When you give instructions for the next step, for example- the strap, After explaining what we should be doing, if you could then proceed to actually do a couple of stitches of the strap-that would be a great help to me. I guess I need to see how it is supposed to look done correctly, then I can feel confident to proceed. Same with the sc around the top of the slipper. I think I could easily skip a stitch unknowingly. The video was very good overall. Thanks again.
