Want a little crochet project to brighten up your Halloween? Why not make a cute little pumpkin treat bag to hold your Halloween goodies?

Free Crochet Pattern - Mini Pumpkin Treat Bag from Designing Crochet by Amanda Saladin

It’s almost Halloween, can you believe it?  I can’t!  We just got out of school for fall break and I have two weeks off from teaching school to work on my crocheting for the holidays.  My husband and two older boys have the next week off and we are heading out for vacation, then the second week it will be just me and my youngest at home together.  I’m looking forward to time spent together, fall recipes, and lots and lots of yarn.

I’ve been thinking about Halloween coming up and wanted to create a pumpkin-themed craft.  I came up with this cute mini pumpkin treat bag that you can store a few goodies in.  It’s quick enough to whip up in much less than an hour so you could make a bunch of these in an afternoon!

Mini Pumpkin Treat Bag Pattern

What You’ll Need

Yarn: Red Heart Soft, one skein each in Tangerine and Dark Leaf, or any worsted orange and green yarn

Hook: Size I/9/5.5mm

Yarn Needle (to weave in ends)

Gauge: 16 sts and 8 rows = 4″ in dc

Size: Approximately 3″ tall and 3″ wide when empty
**See finishing instructions for bottom

Pattern

Notes: Join each round with a slip stitch.
Ch 3 at beginning of row counts as slip stitch.

Row 6: Ch 3, dc 3, 2 dc in next st, *dc 4, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * – 24 sts.

Row 7: Ch 3, dc in each st.

Row 8: Ch 3, dc 3, dc2tog, *dc 4, dc2tog; repeat from * – 20 sts.

Row 9: Change to green, ch 3, dc in each st.

Row 10: Ch 3, dc in each st.

Fasten off.

Tie: Ch 30.  Fasten off.

Finishing:

Weave in ends.

Push bottom up to create a flat bottom that can stand on its own, as seen in photo below.

Using the hook to help, weave tie through first green row.  Fill with treats and pull tie tight!  Enjoy! 🙂

I can’t wait to make more of these and fill with goodies.  It doesn’t have to be candy, either!  A Halloween-sized Play-Doh or crayons, or even a package of fruit snacks fits inside.  I think I might fill mine with Play-Doh for a non-sugary treat!  It’s the perfect size.  What would you put inside?  Leave a comment below!
