I love using the thicker yarns to make quick, cozy baby blankets. This one is so lovely I really enjoy using it myself as a lapghan! The best part is that this is a very beginner-friendly half double crochet project that anyone can make!
This blanket worked up so quickly I easily made it in a weekend, and I even think someone newer to crochet could make it in that time. It uses only half double crochet, so it’s a great follow up to the Beginner Crochet Baby Blanket that uses single crochet if you are working on your crochet skills.
Baby blankets are really becoming my favorite crochet item right now. I love these quick projects you can work up as gifts. They are always appreciated, are fun and usually inexpensive to make (this one used 2 skeins Bernat Blanket Ombré yarn that were on sale at JoAnn for 2 for $10!)

I would like to make this as a lap blanket. How many skeins of yarn would I use?
amanda
I’m not exactly sure because blankets vary so much in size, but I would think four would make a nice lap blanket. 🙂
