Design Story and Inspiration for the Floral Granny Square
I have been loving this floral granny square that I created for the Unforgettable Tote. I created this video while working on the Floral Granny Cowl and I’m planning other projects with this sweet little floral square so I decided to make a video tutorial to help you create your own!
I really wanted a crochet square with a flower center for the top of the Unforgettable Tote, and this sweet little square was just the thing. I really like making it with a colorful flower (I used Red Heart Unforgettable yarn for this square which changes colors!) and a solid color background. For the bag I used a cream to go with the Unforgettable, and for the cowl I used a nice gray and both worked so well.
Yarn Options for the Floral Granny Square
You can really use any yarn and hook you like to make this simple flower granny square. I used a worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.00mm) hook. If you decide to use another weight of yarn, just check the ball band for the recommended hook size and start with that. Then, if it seems too tight or too loose you can always go up or down a hook size, but usually the recommended size works well for this square.
The yarn seen in this video is Red Heart Unforgettable for the flower and Red Heart Soft for the rest of the square.
